My blog for the week 12DCP-048

E-Business model in agriculture has been very successful in the U.S
market. According to a study one in 25 farms in California has already
sold agricultural product on the internet. So the question is what are
the problems in employing this model in the Indian market.
Participation in e-commerce requires that both buyers and sellers
have access to the Internet, and that they are able to use the
required hardware and software effectively. But in India the less
specialized party, such as the farmers generally do not have the access
to the internet which is the main hinderence in the successful working
of the E-Business model in agriculture. Also for this model to work the
payments are also required to be done online. So these problems can be
addressed by the intermediaries which are working between the farmers
and the end consumers. The procurement can be done by some
intermediary industries and they can further do the E-distribution to
the various retail chains or the end consumers. As the e-commerce
sites are becoming popular among the consumers this can be a
successful business model in days to come.
