Hi Sir,

Below is the blog I have written for this week:

There has been different trends of advertisements being used on the online videos posted on various websites, may it be youtube or ToI. The advertisements can be optional or mandatory depending on the popularity of the video. In the optional kind of advertisements, the viewers are allowed to skip the advertisement after an average of 5 seconds. The advertisements really have to be good in this case as people should really get something to watch more interesting than their first choice, and also the interest should be generated in those first 5 seconds as widely seen people skip the advertisements as soon as they can.

Another kind of advertisement is the mandatory one where people don’t have a choice and they have to watch the whole advertisement in order to watch the video of their choice. Even then no one can be assure of watching the  advertisement as people can frequently switch to different tabs or can simply ignore the advertisement. The length of such advertisements is around 20 seconds. Definitely the brands are going to pay more money for such advertisements and the sites have to strategically place it in popular videos which won’t be closed just because of this unnecessary wait.

These advertisements can be placed before the video or it can be placed at number of places in a single video giving a feel of a tv serial being watched on a television. Though the brands can rest assured of a better on screen presence and being noticed but only an interesting theme will get a better customer engagement.

Also its very rare that a customer is going to watch an advertisement twice, howsoever good it can be, thus brands should come up with fresh theme every now and then.

Thanks and Regards
