Use of Social media by Flipkart

Social Media is a new field in marketing and is still growing. Most of the brands and businesses have their own meanings about it. Flipkart is one of the foremost player leveraging this and has an established standards when it comes to use of social and digital media for business development.

The e-Commerce industry has transformed a lot over the last few years, and the procedures used within it for marketing and business development have also. There are numerous sites which try their best to lure customers by trying to show that they are the best and offer most lucrative deals. But Flipkart is one of the very few e-retailers which stick to what it offers to the customers.

It started in 2007 with selling books online and has grown to become India's biggest online store now. It started growing to other verticals expanded rapidly. Flipkart has become so popular among customers is due to its innovative features that they indroduced such as Cash on Delivery, delivery within 2 business days for most of the items.

For achieving all this, Flipkart has leveraged the online media very effectively. Primary reason is their presence on all the major social media such as Facebook, twitter etc. and their effective use of these channels to learn about customer complaints and expectations. Apart from this they also run regular campaigns on these sites. One of the other reasons is the way they have marketed themselves to the consumer using humorous advertisements using 12 year olds which was striking and connected to their customers at an emotional level.

Finally, their capability to adapt to changes happening on social media such as Facebook also gives them an advantage over others. They try to share more and more links and offers and their facebook page is updated almost every day. Change is one of the most important aspects of online presence and they have captured the customer interest by being dynamic and adapting on social media.
