12DCP-061-Takeaways from class on 11/11/2013

In the first class we discussed about the Apple vs google vs amazon case study.
Some of the key points discussed in the class were-
-these companies are having a huge data about people in so many countries that they are becoming more powerful than individual nations.

-Software giants including Google and Amazon are interested in improving  up hardware to boost customer loyalty and to extend control over their software services and the revenues that flow from them.  This was showcased when google acquired motorola for making their products more mobile.

-While android is more of a open source platform , apple is concentrating on making their own software which ensures a loyal customer base and a steady cash flow.

Also Apple's automated voice assistant Siri is being more and more competed with by Google's own voice based search .

Even flipkart has incorporated voice based search on their website.

In the second class we saw a few promotions on facebook and youtube. SOme of the notable promotions were that of burger king which encouraged people to delete facebook friends to get free burgers.
