EBUS Blog week 1 learning 12FN-154 Vinita sec B

Dear Sir,

Below is the learning from week 1.

The most important learning from the first week was the importance of trust between buyer and seller when it comes to e-commerce (e-tailing). Facilitating a secure framework for both payment and delivery which can be trusted by the customer certainly becomes the most important enabler for a successful e-tailing business.

However, with more and more development in network security and enhanced payment systems the future looks brighter. What's interesting and relates very well to the above premise is the growth in the online Jewelry shopping industry in both India and abroad. Introduction of quality standards in  jewelry products made from gold and gems, compulsory certifications by jewelers have added to the trend.

According to ComScore's Media Metrix report on the Top 50 U.S. Web Properties for December 2012 Jewelry sites ranked in top 5 for growth. Leading jewelry website from India Caratlane offers 30-Day Money Back, Free Shipping, Cash-on-Delivery, and Lifetime Exchange. They also provide a try at home option. The other player is Gitanjali Gifts which also hosts other luxury jewelry brands on its website. Apart from the obvious it offers make to order option to its customers. Tanishq besides offering products online has also started crowd sourcing with a competition that invites jewelry designs by customers.

Surely a business that thrives on trust and customization, experience, and touch and feel of the product has adapted itself well for the upcoming market created in the online space.

Regards,

Vinita
