12 DCP-061 takeaway from class on TESCO and Webvan

After the class on TESCO i was thinking about which business model would work for online groceries in India.

I think a online order based model partnering with the local Kirana stores would be a very good model for faster delivery or even pick up from the kirana store by the end consumer only .

This would eliminate the need for  Companies to build huge warehouses as the local kirana stores would act as a warehouse .This would also increase the reach and faster delivery for such an online business.

what is in this for the local kirana store ?
Bigger order sizes and faster inventory  movement and more business .

So an online ordering system with a collaboration with the local kirana store would work in India/.

This could be also coupled with a mobile app as that shown in class in Korea where people just scan the QR code and order online from their mobile and when people reach their home their order would be waiting for them at their doorsteps

It is also interesting to note that YEs bank is using kirana stores to help migrant workers from other areas to deposit savings in urban areas.
I searced the net and i found a website http://www.localkiranastore.com/
but im not sure whether their business model is same as that i have proposed above.

It is also interesting to note that YEs bank is using kirana stores to help migrant workers from other areas to deposit savings in urban areas.
