Channel Exclusive Digital Campaigns - Group 1 | Section A.

With the leading digital platforms each competing with each other in terms of reach and services offered, we set out to explore innovative campaigns executed solely on google or facebook.

1)      THE OCD AWARENESS CAMPAIGN

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder is still not completely understood and recognised as a mental illness in our society. The ocdfoundation chose an innovative way to drive home this message, by a Youtube campaign that was interactive, cool and became viral, gathering rave reviews on social media.

2)      THE BUDWEISER BUDDY CUP CAMPAIGN

The campaign was a unique blend of friendships on the social media and in real life – where a simple action of bumping glasses was transferred to the social media platform by innovative use of technology.

While the idea is very innovative, we must raise a couple of questions – Is Facebook still cool enough to help sell beer? What about privacy? Users scan the QR code on the bottom of the cup, connecting it to their Facebook profiles - all you have to do is bump your glass with someone else's and they have access to your Facebook profile. Add alcohol to that. Worth a thought.

3)      THE FASHIONTAG — BY FLAIR MAGAZINE

Another successful social media campaign that realised the convergence between our real and virtual lives - Flair, a Belgian women's magazine, gave women the option to identify their friends' clothing in Facebook pics by the creation of a "Fashiontag". They could also ask a question about the item. The question was posted on the friend's wall.

Those conversations then ran on a Fashiontag Page on Facebook, with the best ones featured in the magazine. After the app launched, the magazine's Facebook Page got a 35% bump in fans, with the app costing about $35,000.
