Online Shopping Trends In India During Festivals

CashKaro.com is India's leading cash back and coupon website that enables online shoppers to save the money while shopping online.

 It conducted a shopping preference study about what Indians will be buying this festive season. It has collected some attention grabbing information.

The survey was conducted amongst Cashkaro's facebook fanbase and twitter fan base of 3,06,376 at October 11, 2013.

Below are some of theresults of the survey:

·         83% of the people said they will shop online for clothes, mobile phones, and other consumer electronics.

·         30% of the people are more likely to buy clothing items, 25% were inclined towards buying mobiles & electronics. About 13% intend to shop for Diwali gifts and decorative items online and about 12% will buy their Diwali dry-fruit and chocolate gifting quotas online. A small percentage was also interested in buying fire-crackers and gold coins online.

·         The results also showed that almost 92% of the people will be spending under Rs 25,000 in entirety on Diwali, both online as well as offline. About 42% of the respondents will be doing 25-50% of their Diwali shopping online.

·         This survey also revealed that a massive 96% of the surveyed population said that they would like to earn cashback on all their online shopping.  Also, most of the respondents chose to shop online because they found products to be cheaper and the procedure to be convenient.

Cashkaro's Diwali survey report concluded 3 interesting facts:

·         Majority of the Indian online shopping population is composed of males. In Cashkaro's survey itself 31% of the respondents were composed of females while 69% turned out to be males.

·         Compared to females, males are 10% more likely to buy Mobiles and Electronics online.

·         During Diwali, the age group "25-40 years" spends about 20% more than their younger "under 25 years" counterparts.
